You definitely will appreciate the shower floor that is perfectly designed to never give you the worries of water or moisture getting trapped in it. However costly it may be sometimes to put up such a design, you still get contented as that definitely allows you to make long-term cost savings.
The best way to achieve this is to carefully follow the process of installing a shower pan and a PVE or CPE liner.
-->A lot of work goes into the perfect installation of shower flows that seem to last forever. Preparing the floor bed is not an easy task. The mortar bed is made sloping to drain that is later supposed to allow water and moisture to easily flow away through it. This prevents mold, mildew and bad odors and potential damage to the mortar bed and other structures. The sloped mortar bed makes the subfloor which sometimes is also made of plywood. It is over this subfloor that the liner is laid and stuck using a bonding adhesive. Care is taken at this stage to ensure that the drain hole and its weep holes do not get blocked in any way. Another adhesive is used for the liners sides that contact the drain. For the drain hole, a plastic plumbing flange lip is used but this should only project slightly above the subfloor so as not to obstruct water flow. The liner laid on this surface is cut for the drain hole and its fastened to the surrounding framing of the shower. The liner edges are lapped and nailed against the walls about 8 inches higher. The liner material for the shower floor is best spread from the drain towards the side framing and the curbs so as to lay flat on the surface. After this you can test you shower basin for any leaking by filling it with water then making any necessary repairs.
Above the PVC or CPE liner, either plans for solid surfaces or tile floors can follow. However, solid surfaces such as swanstone shower pans are preferred to tiles for shower floors. Tiles may not last long as weaknesses develop along the grouts over time. The only thing to worry about with the solid surfaces is the grout at the transition between the floor and the wall. The installation of the shower pan is fairly easy. Sand is evenly spread over the liner surface, taking care not to clog the weep holes, and then the shower pan is carefully placed over it. The sand creates adjustable cushioning that allows the shower pan floor to sit firmly on the liner surface. After this tiles or swanstone panels can be used for the walls. Shower floors made this way last a lifetime.
